This Saturdays’ shopping at Arundel Mills Mall, has taken an unusual turn of events! At 3:38PM Anne Arndell First Alert has reported of their Facebook page:
“#Breaking | Police Activity | Arundel Mills Mall | Reports of shots fired | The Mall has been evacuated | NO CONFIRMATION OF A SHOOTING | Police are clearing each store at a time | One person of interest being sought | Numerous units are on scene | Staging command post near the Casino | No confirmed injuries | This is your FIRST ALERT – Info can change”
Shortly after, Anne Arundel County Police Department, has reported:
“Officers on scene at Arundel Mills Mall. Preliminary investigation, review of video shows what’s believed to be a male accidentally discharge a firearm in the food court. It does not appear that there were any victims to the discharge. Police are on scene investigating.”
Almost immediately after, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman (Democrat), has come out with the following statement:
“Three months ago, the Supreme Court made it more dangerous to go to the mall in America. The NYSRPA vs. Bruen decision made it easier to carry guns in public places, and Maryland followed suit, removing the “good and substantial reason” that had been required to obtain a concealed carry permit. The following month, concealed carry permit applications in Maryland soared by 700% compared to the same month in 2021.
Today, we saw what happens when more guns are present in our communities. Families enjoying a meal in the food court at Arundel Mills experienced the terror of not knowing whether they would be the latest victims of a mass shooting. People fled, people were hurt, all because a firearm went off in a crowded public space. My heart goes out to everyone present for this incident – nobody should have to go through what you did today.
For four years, I have made it a priority to put in place common-sense local policies to prevent gun violence and death in Anne Arundel County. We have one of the best Police Departments in America, and from 2018-2021, every category of crime fell by ten percent or more. In June, our Gun Violence Intervention Team issued its strategic plan – read it.
But today, I am angry. Politicians glorify guns to get votes, the Supreme Court takes away our right in Maryland to pass and enforce our own gun permitting laws, and the result is terror.
I will stand with our law enforcement community and push back against this idea of promoting guns in public places. It’s dangerous and it’s stupid.”
Coincidentally enough, incumbent Anne Arundel County Councilwoman (District 2 – Democrat), Allison Pickard was at Arundel Mills Mall during the incident:
“I was among the thousands that were evacuated from Arundel Mills Mall this afternoon. At the time I had no idea what was happening. Families and patrons were fleeing the Mall.
Thank You Anne Arundel County Police Department and Anne Arundel County Fire Department for your quick actions during this incident.
Today’s incident turned out to be an “accidental” discharge of a firearm. I am relieved to be able to read that report in the aftermath. Mass shootings have become an all too frequent occurrence at shopping centers, football games, schools, churches, etc.
Today I was part of a crowd who were clearly confused and many were desperate to be reunited with loved ones and friends.
We were lucky today Anne Arundel County.”

With the 2022 Gubernatorial Elections, shortly approaching, https://elections.maryland.gov/elections/2022/index.html, and Democrats constantly pushing to restrict gun laws for law abiding citizens, is this Saturday at Anne Arundel Mills mall incident, an unfortunate case of events, or something more?!
How many law abiding conceal carry citizens, accidentaly discharge their fire arms?!
