Twitter Owner Elon Musk held a poll on his Twitter page over the last 24 hours in order to determine what to do with Former President Donald Trump’s account which has been banned from the platform since January 8th, 2021.

The poll received over 15 million votes over the last day, closing tonight. The results were close, but the Trump won a slight victory at just over 51% of the vote.
Trump’s account, @realDonaldTrump, was reinstated nearly immediately. All previous followers have been removed from his account, and all Trump’s prior tweets are once again accessible.
Twitter was a major part of the Trump Presidency, mainly because it gave him an avenue to directly communicate with his followers, and the world without censorship. It was pivotal to take that line of communication away during the time they were illegally removing him from office.
Twitter has also reinstated many banned individuals over the last few days, including Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson, and the parody site the Babylon Bee.
Trump has yet to post anything on his account, but has already amassed thousands of new followers. It will be interesting to see if Trump remains on his own platform, Truth Social, or ventures back to Twitter to use his old account.
When Trump was removed from Twitter, he was almost simultaneously removed from Facebook as well. As this move will most likely bring a lot of traffic to Twitter, it will be interesting to see if Facebook also jumps on the bandwagon of restoring the banned account of the former President.
We must never forget the circumstances that led to Trump being banned in the first place. The Democrat orchestrated events of January 6th set up a narrative that has been used to silence Conservative voices nationwide.
