Headlines The Epoch Times August 16, 2021: “Biden National Security Adviser Says Afghanistan Army Lacked ‘Will’ to Defend Against Taliban”. So we are to conclude based on Jake Sullivan’s assessment that the debacle we are now facing is the fault of the Afghanistan Army? Isn’t that a bit like blaming the rape victim instead of the rapist?
Sullivan’s statement appears to reflect the total lack of understanding of the situation in Afghanistan despite the warning some weeks ago by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that this would be exactly what would happen if Biden pulled the plug on Afghanistan to soon.
As for the Afghan Army itself — look at what the Chairman of the JCS said just a few weeks ago and you will understand that we, in fact, knew exactly the shape and condition of the Afghan Army and we knew that they would not fight. We knew this because we have been training them for some 20 years and the truth is we could train them for another 20 years and the outcome would be the same. Why is that?
We can start with a clear understanding that despite an Afghanistan flag, a capital city, and a Presidential Palace with a President there really is no loyalty to a country — the typical Afghan male is loyal to his family and then his tribe or sect… but to a country … not so much! So why stay in the national army if you really are not serving a national cause?
There were some really good units and fighters in the Afghan military but for most it was a paycheck for some 300,000 Afghan men. A government welfare program for which you had to agree to wear a uniform, attend training and man a checkpoint in some remote part of the country. So when the Taliban appear at your door and give you choice — beheading or surrender what do you do? And even when you surrender they still behead you… well according to Sullivan that is just a lack of will to fight.
So we know the Commander in Chief was busy vacationing at Camp David after assuring us all that Afghanistan would not be a repeat of the evacuation of Saigon — and that he did get right. It is a far worse situation then the evacuation of Saigon in 1975. Reports from the ground are telling us the former Afghan Army is sharing information on who served in the Army allowing the Taliban to go door to door seeking these people for execution.
Now we must ask ourselves — Why didn’t we have a plan. We knew this was going to happen and there was no plan. Perhaps because Lloyd Austin the Secretary of Defense was busy chasing offensive tattoos or putting up Gay Pride flags or trying to find out who in the ranks voted for Trump — who knows why there was no plan but clearly there was none.
We should have been prepared to destroy the equipment that we left behind, but we didn’t and now the Taliban are driving around in the up-armored HMMWV’s and MRAP’s that we brough to that land. They have captured the Afghan Airforce, some 240 aircraft, without a shot being fired, aircraft that were bought and paid for by the US taxpayer. There was no plan.
However the Taliban have a plan — they will now systematically start rounding up those who served in the army or helped the Americans or were born a woman or attended school some time in the last 20 years or own a book printed in English or listen to music … the list goes on. But they have a plan for all of those who might have offended the religion of Islam – beheading, stoning, or perhaps just servitude in slavery — you know the kind that the Socialist Democrats decry in our own countries history but clearly do not give one fig about in modern day Afghanistan.
This is a sad and disgraceful day for America. The Biden Administration has besmirched the honor of those who fell in battle in Afghanistan. They have lowered America’s prestige around the world and if he had any honor left in him Joe Biden would resign the Presidency immediately along with Kamala Harris.
Tony Blinken and his staff at State would follow suit as well as should the leaders of the CIA and NSA and the entire National Security apparatus of the country. Susan Rice who has remained mysteriously silent and in the shadows of the White House needs to be called out and she too must resign.
The fall of Afghanistan, inflation running rampart, government spending out of control, crime continuing to rise across the country and an invasions of our southern border as well as the continued failure to “crush the virus” — It is time for the Socialist Democrats to end their power trip and start acting in the best interests of the American people. If they don’t the consequences are unimaginable.
