The controversial head of the Department of Homeland Security’s disinformation board resigned on Wednesday following weeks of attacks on her appointment and as it emerged that the panel was being ‘paused’ only three weeks after it was set up.

The board was intended to combat misinformation but critics quickly homed in on the role of its chief, Nina Jankowicz, and her history fighting disinformation and extremism.

In particular, they questioned her expertise after it emerged she had dismissed the 2020 discovery of Hunter Biden‘s laptop as being a ‘Trump campaign product.’

And in 2016 she spread claims about then candidate Donald Trump’s links to President Vladimir Putin of Russia, which have since been debunked.

‘With the board’s work paused and its future uncertain … I have decided to leave DHS to return to my work in the public sphere,’ she said in her resignation letter, obtained by CNN.

‘It is deeply disappointing that mischaracterizations of the board became a distraction from the department’s vital work, and indeed, along with recent events globally and nationally, embodies why it is necessary. 

‘I maintain my commitment to building awareness of disinformation’s threats and trust the Department will do the same.’ 

Earlier multiple sources told the Washington Post that the Department of Homeland Security decided on Monday to close its Disinformation Governance Board and that Jankowicz, 33, had drafted a resignation letter.

But by the end of Tuesday the board had won a reprieve, although it could yet be shut down. 

‘Nina Jankowicz has been subjected to unjustified and vile personal attacks and physical threats,’ a DHS spokesperson told The Post in a statement. 

‘In congressional hearings and in media interviews, the secretary has repeatedly defended her as eminently qualified and underscored the importance of the department’s disinformation work, and he will continue to do so.’ 

The Republican National Committee dubbed the committee the ‘Ministry of Truth’ in a nod to George Orwell’s novel ‘1984,’ and raised fears that the group will deem as disinformation ‘any speech we don’t like.’ 

But officials insisted it would protect speech. 

‘The board’s purpose has been grossly mischaracterized; it will not police speech,’ the DHS spokesperson said. ‘Quite the opposite, its focus is to ensure that freedom of speech is protected.’

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was grilled about the board and its personnel during an appearance before senators.

‘Do you think the American people are so stupid they need you to tell them what the truth is?’ asked Sen. Rand Paul. 

‘You can’t even admit what the truth is with the Steele Dossier. I don’t trust government to figure out what the truth is. 

‘Government is largely disseminating disinformation.’

Other critics have seized upon Jankowicz’s past comments – noting that she described Hunter Biden’s laptop as ‘the laptop from hell’ and echoed the opinion of national security experts at the time that the laptop was part of a Russian influence operation.

It has since been confirmed by multiple news organizations, including DailyMail.com, as authentic.

She also shared several claimed from from Hillary Clinton‘s 2016 presidential campaign on Twitter, including allegations that are now being looked into by special counsel John Durham.

In November 2016, Jankowicz, a Russian misinformation ‘expert,’ tweeted: ‘Husband texted me ‘you have news to wake up to.’ Never thought it would be this. Confirms our worst fears about Trump. I am horrified.’

She was reposting Clinton’s tweet claiming ‘it’s time for Trump to answer serious questions about his ties to Russia,’ along with a screenshot showing that the then-candidate had a ‘secret service’ he used to privately communicate with Putin-tied Russian Alfa Bank.

‘Trump had not one, but two secret email servers to communicate with influential Russian bank. Unbelievable,’ she followed up in another tweet with a link to an article by someone to whom opposition research firm Fusion GPS was feeding stories related to alleged ties between Trump’s campaign and the Kremlin.

Durham’s team has cast doubt on Alfa Bank claims – as has the FBI, CIA, special counsel Robert Mueller and a Senate Intelligence Committee probe

Democratic cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussmann has been indicted by Durham for concealing the identity of his clients, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign, when he reported the now-debunked Alfa Bank claims to the FBI. 

Former President Donald Trump was among the conservatives leading attacks on the disinformation board.

At a recent rally in Pennsylvania he said one of the highest priorities for Republicans elected to Congress should be dissolving the board. 

‘We will immediately terminate Joe Biden’s so-called disinformation governing board, how about that one?’ Trump said. ‘A chilling and un-American power grab that we will not allow to stand.’

Huge groups of illegal aliens have been crossing the Rio Grande into Eagle Pass, Texas, every day “like clockwork,” according to reports.

More than 2,000 migrants have crossed the border river at the same spot in the last eight days alone, authorities told Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin.

Melugin, who has been on the ground in Eagle Pass, has shared a slew of shocking videos showing groups of over 100 illegals entering the U.S. by water with the help of human smugglers.

“The biggest group we’ve seen so far just crossed illegally into Eagle Pass, TX. Several hundred. Many had already crossed before I started recording. This is now the 6th day in a row we’ve seen a massive group cross here in the late AM hours,” he reported on Monday.

Melugin also shared drone footage of the same group wading across the Rio.

“This has happened here every day in the last week. A TX soldier tells us there have been 2,000+ crossings in this specific spot in last 8 days,” he noted.

Melugin has shared similar videos and photos from the region on a daily basis and has indicated the groups may be growing larger.

The Senate voted on Monday to advance legislation that would provide $40 billion in aid to Ukraine, while Americans continue to suffer from food shortages and reel from inflation.

The Senate voted to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed on H.R. 7691, the Ukraine Supplemental Aid Package. The motion passed 81-11. This means that the Senate can begin debate on the Ukraine aid package.

The legislation would provide over $20 billion in military supplies and roughly $20 billion in humanitarian, economic, and other aid to Ukraine.

While Senate Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly voted to advance the legislation, many populist-leaning Republicans such as Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have opposed the legislation.

Sens. Paul, Hawley, Mike Crapo (R-ID), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Mike Braun (R-IN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) voted against the bill.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have tried to quickly pass the bill through the Senate; however, Paul has demanded that the Senate pass an amendment to create a special inspector general to oversee how the Ukraine military aid is spent.

“My oath of office is the US constitution not to any foreign nation and no matter how sympathetic the cause, my oath of office is to the national security of the United States of America,” Paul said on the Senate floor last week. “We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the US economy.”

Paul said he would try to delay the bill until Thursday. He told CNN, “Because I think we should have an inspector general. We have one out there and overseeing Afghan waste. He’s been very good at it. You don’t have to wait for an appointment. He’s got a team up and running. And I think that’s what we should do.”

Kelley Vlahos, an editor of Responsible Statecraft for the interventionist Quincy Institute, wrote that Paul “single handedly” held up the Ukraine aid bill.

“Lawmakers, who have shuttled billions of dollars through Congress in seeming record time over the last two months, are predictably annoyed,” Vlahos remarked.

Breitbart News defense reporter Kristina Wong broke down the spending for the Ukraine aid package, which includes $20 billion for the Department of Defense:

— $17 billion for U.S. military operations, including the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, and to replace U.S. military equipment sent to Ukraine;

— $1.8 billion in U.S. military equipment for Ukraine;

— $414 million for “research, development, test and evaluation” related to the Ukraine war;

— $15 million for U.S. troop pay related to the war; and

— $13.9 million for the Defense Health Program.

Roughly $20 billion was for Ukraine, the State Department, international organizations, and other agencies, including:

— $8.77 billion in economic assistance for Ukraine;
— $4.35 billion in humanitarian aid for Ukraine;
— $4 billion for foreign military financing program (run by the State Department);
— $900 million for the Administration for Children and Families for refugee and entrant assistance;
— $500 million for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development;
— $400 million for the international narcotics control and law enforcement to combat human trafficking and collect evidence of war crimes;
— $350 million for the State Department’s Migration and Refugee Assistance;
— $190 million for the State Department for “Diplomatic Programs;
— $150 million for the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program;
— $110 million for the State Department for embassy security, construction, and maintenance;
— $100 million for the State Department for nonproliferation, anti-terrorism, de-mining and related programs;
— $67 million for the Justice Department;
— $54 million for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to carry out public health and disease detection related to Ukraine;
— $17 million for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID);
— $10 million for the State Department’s “Capital Investment Fund”;
— $4 million for the State Department’s Office of Inspector General;
— $2 million for “salaries and expenses” to provide regulatory and technical support; and
— $1 million for USAID’s Office of Inspector General.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) proposed an amendment that would streamline and target the aid to better meet the needs of the Ukrainian people. He said in a statement:

Senators voted to advance this bill while Americans continue to suffer from a record 40-year high inflation and a baby formula shortage.

“That’s not isolationism. That’s nationalism. It’s about prioritizing American security and American interests,” he added.

The Biden administration is working to resolve an unprecedented baby formula shortage they claim no one could have seen coming.

In a Monday interview with CNN, however, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra admitted the federal government’s been aware of the shortage as early as last year.

“You are satisfied with the government’s response throughout this [baby formula shortage]?” asked CNN’s Kate Bolduan.

“From everything I’ve known… the FDA has kept me apprised of this from LAST YEAR. We have been moving as quickly as we can,” Becerra responded, admitting the Food and Drug Administration has known of a coming shortage since 2021.

On Friday, Biden told reporters the federal government “moved as quickly as a problem became apparent to us.”

Asked if the administration should have moved sooner on the issue, Biden responded, “If we’d been better mind readers, I guess we could have.”

On Monday, the FDA released a fact sheet informing families how to address the formula shortage, including phone numbers to various resources, however CNN reports when a reporter attempted to call some of the numbers listed, “the exercise resulted in apologetic customer service representatives, one hold time that lasted well over an hour and serious challenges in finding baby formula through some of the main suggestions listed on the new HHS website.”

At this point as everyone is now well aware of the issue, the shortage is continuing either through sheer incompetency, or intentional planning.

This is the latest example of the Biden Administration allowing for crises to take effect in order to propose government expansion as the answer.

The FDA kept the door closed on the Abbot factory in Michigan even though they knew there was a shortage brewing up to a year ago.

There is no mistake with this Administration. They simply appear naive and incompetent by design.

These are malicious destroyers that seek one thing, destruction of the United States. Their secondary goal is to torture us, the American people.

Congressional inaction is rattling the walls of America. While Trump was impeached for phone calls, Biden seems literally capable of committing any kind of offense imaginable.

He can even appear completely incoherent every time he opens his mouth. Congress still allows him to operate.

Although early reports suggested that he was fleeing the scene of a crime, others have noted that the social media footprint of the suspect in the SUV massacre contains numerous anti-white violent threats in addition to pro-BLM rhetoric.

Darrell Edward Brooks Jr, a 39-year-old black male with a long criminal history, has been identified as the individual allegedly responsible for the horrific rampage in Waukesha, Wisconsin which killed at least five and injured dozens of others, some of them children.

Early reports emerged claiming that the culprit was fleeing the scene of a crime or running from a “knife fight,” although this hasn’t been confirmed and authorities say they are still open to the notion that the tragedy was a terror attack.

As Eric Striker notes, Brooks Jr’s criminal record is lengthy.

“Media reports have confirmed the identity of the alleged driver, Darrell E. Brooks, a registered sex offender who admitted in a video that he pimps children. The career criminal was released back into the streets on a paltry $1000 bond despite being charged with bail-jumping and facing a plethora of violent felonies and misdemeanors just over two weeks ago, according to Wisconsin Court Records.”

Brooks Jr is more well known as the Soundcloud rapper Mathboi Fly. One of his songs titled “Minnesota” covers familiar racial grievance territory and name checks BLM icons George Floyd and Eric Garner while asserting, “Try and use deadly force we gonna go harder. Fuck a price, burn it down, this ain’t Bob Barker.”

In the hours after the attack, researchers began gathering Mathboi Fly’s Facebook posts before his account was deleted.

One post features a black man whipping white men who are enslaved in a cotton field.

Another post from during the George Floyd riots encourages black to commit random violence against white people.

Researchers have also noted that Daniel Thompson, the police chief of Waukesha, led a Black Lives Matter march in June 2020 and made his officers kneel in homage to the extremist movement.

Concerns are therefore growing that any connection between the horrific truck attack BLM will be buried by authorities.

The town where the tragedy happened in 89% white, meaning the vast majority of the victims are likely to be white.
