BUSTED: Desantis Election Office To Arrest 20 Individuals Over Voter Fraud

Florida is in the process of arresting 20 individuals who have been charged for voter fraud, Sunshine State officials announced Thursday.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed landmark election integrity legislation in April, creating an Office of Election Crimes and Security under Florida’s State Department, which reviews and investigates allegations of voter fraud.

“I don’t think there’s any place in the country where you should have more confidence that your vote counts than in the State of Florida,” DeSantis said at the time.

The governor on Thursday addressed critics, many of whom questioned the actions Florida has taken to address voter fraud — from making ballot harvesting a felony offense to banning “Zuckerbucks.”

“You can have all these great policy reforms and it’s important to do it, but if it’s not actually enforced, then what difference is it gonna make at the end of the day?” DeSantis asked.

“The fact of the matter is, if there are certain rules and regulations in place, if people don’t think that those are gonna be enforced, you’re gonna have more violations. That’s just the way it goes,” he said, touting the Office of Election Crimes and Security, tasked with investigating such matters.

“We want to make sure we have laws in place and we want those laws to be enforced,” DeSantis continued before announcing that, through that office and in conjunction with the Attorney General’s office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), “the state of Florida has charged and is in the process of arresting 20 individuals across the state for voter fraud.”

Most of the illegal votes, he said, came from individuals in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade.

“Although there are others in other parts of the state, these folks voted illegally. In this case, and there’s gonna be other grounds for other prosecutions in the future, they are disqualified from voting because they’ve been convicted of either murder or sexual assault and they do not have the right to vote. They have been disenfranchised under Florida law,” he said, explaining that they did not go through the process of restoring their voting rights, “and yet they went ahead and voted anyways.”

“Now they’re gonna pay the price for it. So they will be charged. They are being charged and arrested today with election fraud. This is a third degree felony in the state of Florida,” he said, adding that the individuals could face up to a $5,000 fine and up to five years in prison.

“To have somebody who is clearly an illegal felon voting and yet they did it and nothing happened until we stepped in with this new office, until we said this is something that we take seriously, now, this is only one class of voters that we know have violated the law,” he said, adding that there are ongoing investigations “into people that have voted in two different jurisdictions.” DeSantis also said they have individuals who are voting who are illegal aliens and therefore not eligible to vote.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) echoed the governor’s remarks.

“Today we are announcing actions against 20 defendants in five different circuits across the state of Florida,” she said:

And I can tell you from my previous experience and working alongside these great men and women when you have a specialized unit, when you can ensure that you can attract and retain people that have been trained and are skilled in a particular area of law, you will be able to respond more rapidly and efficiently and effectively when you do have violations of law. So, this legislation was much needed.

“So today is a very important step as in Florida, we work diligently to ensure free and fair elections and the confidence of our citizens,” she added. “They are free and fair elections.”

Launch Liberty adds: Though these arrests will apprehend criminals, election integrity experts that I have consulted with have informed me that arrests related to ‘voter fraud’ will have little to no impact on election results.

The real problem with our elections is ‘Election Fraud’, not individual ‘Voter Fraud’. ‘Election Fraud’ is committed by internal election personnel.

It has also come to my attention that the leader of this Desantis group is a former Supervisor of Elections. Remember folks, ALL ELECTIONS ARE FRAUDULENT.

We get safer elections not by attacking voter fraud, but election fraud.

YOU’RE FIRED: CNN CANCELS Brian Stelter’s Show “Reliable Sources”, Stelter Set To Leave DISGRACED Network

Anchor Brian Stelter and his CNN show, Reliable Sources, were both canceled on Thursday after controversies engulfed the network.

“It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential,” Stelter told NPR, stating he will reveal more on his last show on Sunday.

CNN could have kept Stelter as an employee but apparently decided against retaining his services. CNN could have also kept his show while parting ways with Stelter. Instead, both the show and Stelter will be no more at the news organization founded by Ted Turner.

Stelter’s show hit the lowest episode rating in June since September 2019.

“Stelter came to CNN from the New York Times as the nation’s top media reporter. He departs CNN an impeccable broadcaster,” CNN’s executive vice president for talent and content development, Amy Entelis, told NPR. “We are proud of what Brian and his team accomplished over the years, and we’re confident their impact and influence will long outlive the show.”

In June, Breitbart News reported CNN’s new chief Chris Licht was “ready to boot on-air personalities who have destroyed the brand by becoming irredeemable partisan hacks,” which means Stelter must have been on the hot seat after the fresh rebranding tactics have been put forward.

Stelter’s exit comes after the former president of CNN, Jeff Zucker, left the network in February upon being questioned about his relationship with longtime CNN executive Allison Gollust as part of the broader Andrew Cuomo investigation, which showed that former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo had aided his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, through a sexual harassment scandal.

A former CNN employee confirmed to Breitbart News in March that Stelter was “freaking out” about Zucker’s potential exit because he “will be swept up in the internal investigation given his closeness to Jeff Zucker.” Stelter did not reply to Breitbart News when questioned if he was cooperating with the ongoing internal investigation at CNN in the wake of now-former network president Jeff Zucker’s resignation.

Stelter is well known to have pushed false narratives on his show. Stelter claimed Hunter Biden’s “laptop” was “Russian disinformation.” Yet Hunter’s laptop was verified as authentic by Breitbart News’s Emma-Jo Morris in the fall of 2020. Over a year later, the establishment media finally confirmed its authenticity, including CNN 532 days later.

In May, Hunter’s laptop repairman Mac Isaac told the New York Post he was suing CNN for “false statements” related to Hunter’s laptop.

The suit reportedly claims, “CNN’s broadcast of the false statement accuses the Plaintiff of committing an infamous crime, i.e., treason by working with the Russians to commit a crime against the United States of America by attempting to undermine American democracy and the 2020 Presidential election.”

PATHETIC: Mike Pence DEFENDS FBI After Trump Mar-A-Lago Raid!

Former Vice President Mike Pence pushed back against Republican calls to dismantle the FBI entirely following its unprecedented raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, saying such proposals are “just as wrong” as Democrat efforts to “defund the police.”

“I also want to remind my fellow Republicans, we can hold the Attorney General [Merrick Garland] accountable for the decision that he made without attacking rank-and-file law enforcement personnel at the FBI,” Pence said Wednesday at a New England Council event.

“And these attacks on the FBI must stop. Calls to defund the FBI are just as wrong as calls to defund the police,” Pence told the audience, who remained silent and did not applaud his remark.

“We need to get to the bottom of what happened. We need to let the facts play out, but more than anything else, the American people need to be reassured in the integrity of our justice system and the very appearance of a recurrence of politics playing a role in decision that the Justice Department demands transparency as never before.”

Pence’s statement echoes that of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who, shortly after the Mar-a-Lago raid, took to Twitter to condemn “unfounded attacks” on the FBI rather than explain the bureau’s historic actions against a former president and chief political rival of Joe Biden.

Contrary to Pence’s claim that Republicans are attacking the “rank-and-file” FBI employees, the real criticism has been aimed squarely at the FBI and DOJ leadership by members of both political parties.

Historian and Hoover Institute fellow Victor Davis Hanson recently suggested in a cutting analysis that the FBI is “beyond redemption” and should be abolished, citing its pattern of coverups and targeting of political opponents of the Democrat Party with the Russia collusion hoax.

“I never thought I would say this — the FBI is beyond redemption. All of its bureaus and its institutions have to be farmed out and broken up,” Hanson said on Fox News last week. “If you have a warrant, an FBI warrant, there’s no guarantee that that has not been altered. If you subpoena and you want FBI records on phones…they will be wiped clean. If you want disinterested legal counsel, look at Lisa Page.”

“And Peter Strzok, if you’re the FBI, and you want to find out why Hillary Clinton hired a foreign national to find dirt on a political opponent, then you will hire that same foreign national.”

“And you look at the last four directors,” he continued. “We just saw Christopher Wray, and he just stonewalled every question. And then he flew on an FBI plane, our plane, a luxury jet, because he had to go to his own vacation spot. He took over, remember from Andrew McCabe, what did he do? He lied four times to federal investigators and his wife was running for an office with Clinton-related PAC money while he was investigating Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.”

“He took over from James Comey, who leaked confidential memos, written on FBI devices to the media, and then when he was called before Congress on 245 occasions, he said, ‘he didn’t know,’ or ‘didn’t remember.’ Anybody listening to this tries that with the IRS and they’re going to go to jail,” he added.

These tone-deaf remarks by Pence are the latest example of why the Republican base has soundly rejected him as a prospective 2024 presidential candidate, where he scored an embarrassing 0.3% in the CPAC straw poll.

CREEPY: Bill Gates Brags About ‘Tapping Into Relationship’ With Manchin to Pass ‘Inflation Reduction Act’

Creepy Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates bragged about ‘tapping into his relationship’ with West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin in an article published in Bloomberg earlier this week.

Fox New is now reporting that Manchin has received MILLIONS in green energy donations.

The article reveals the influence in which the billionaire Gates has over our political process. It is revealed immediately that Gates was on the phone with Chuck Schumer immediately after the bill was rejected by Manchin. The article reads…

the Senate’s all-important member, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, had slammed the brakes on legislation to combat global warming. Again.

That’s when billionaire philanthropist and clean-energy investor Bill Gates got on the phone with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, whose job it was to hold together the Democrats’ no-vote-to-spare majority.

One of the world’s richest men felt he had to give one of the nation’s most powerful lawmakers a little pep talk. “[Schumer] said to me on one call that he’d shown infinite patience,” Gates recounted in an interview last week, describing for the first time his personal effort to keep climate legislation alive.

“You’re right,” Gates told Schumer. “And all you need to do is show infinite plus one patience.”

Gates was banking on more than just his trademark optimism about addressing climate change and other seemingly intractable problems that have been his focus since stepping down as Microsoft’s chief executive two decades ago.

As he revealed to Bloomberg Green, he has quietly lobbied Manchin and other senators, starting before President Joe Biden had won the White House, in anticipation of a rare moment in which heavy federal spending might be secured for the clean-energy transition.

With an opportunity to take in billions of taxpayer dollars, Bill Gates was using his power and influence to pressure politicians into passing this bill. He even openly admits it.

Gates reportedly began ‘cultivating’ his relationship with Manchin around 2019 at a dinner. He even goes as far to say that everybody on the energy committee came and had dinner with Gates for a few hours.

Gates started wooing Manchin and other senators who might prove pivotal for clean-energy policy in 2019 over a meal in Washington DC. “My dialogue with Joe has been going on for quite a while,” Gates said. “Almost everyone on the energy committee” — of which Manchin was then the senior-most Democrat — “came over and spent a few hours with me over dinner.”

“The last month people felt like, OK, we tried, we’re done, it failed,” Gates said. “I believed it was a unique opportunity.” So he tapped into a relationship with Manchin that he’d cultivated for at least three years. “We were able to talk even at a time when he felt people weren’t listening.”

This bill includes a reported $374 billion in ‘new spending’ towards nonsensical renewable energy that is neither efficient nor effective.

The bill also includes new mandates for the energy industry that will undoubtedly further contribute to rising energy prices.

This news comes on top of terrible news that the Biden halt on oil and gas has been reinstated by the courts. Bloomberg reports…

President Joe Biden won temporary permission to once again pause energy leasing on federal lands and waters, after a US appeals court found a trial judge’s order against the moratorium too vague to review.

The court on Wednesday threw out the judge’s nationwide injunction forcing a restart of leasing from the Gulf of Mexico to Alaska and ordered the judge to revisit the issue. In the meantime, Biden’s pause stands.

Is it strange to anybody else that a creepy billionaire is pressuring our politicians into passing legislation that they will benefit from financially?

Is this bill really supposed to help the citizens of the United States? At no point have any of the politicians or Gates himself acknowledged that any of this would benefit we the people in any way, shape, or form.

They instead seem to be fixated on the prospect of stealing money from the American people. They wasted no time doing it, as Biden has already signed the bill into law.

Bill Gates should be put on trial for crimes against humanity. We should ban him from our Nation.

Since when did Bill Gates get put in charge of American Government?

The people of West Virginia must send a resounding message to Senator Joe Manchin in 2024. They must show Senator Manchin that our American values are not for sale.

Record inflation coupled with record spending is going to send this country into a depression the likes of which the world has never seen before.

WATCH: Governor Ron Desantis CRACKS DOWN On Drag Shows For Children

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Wednesday weighed in on his administration’s efforts to fight back against the sexualization of children and spoke of the “disturbing trend” of society trying to sexualize young children following news of the state filing a complaint against a bar in Miami that offers drag shows to children.

“There was a video out of Dallas where they had all these young kids putting money in the underwear of these drag queens at a bar, and that’s totally unacceptable,” DeSantis said, explaining that videos later emerged showing similar scenarios occurring in the Sunshine State.

“So we said, wait a minute having kids involved in this is wrong, that is not consistent with our law and policy in the state of Florida, and it is a disturbing trend in our society to try to sexualized these young people,” he said. “That is not the way you look out for our children.”

DeSantis spoke about the Department of Business and Professional regulation lunching an investigation into the Miami bar that offers drag shows to children. Investigators found that there were, indeed, minors present at these “sexually explicit drag shows.”

“They actually had the bar, had a children’s menu on their food services and you think of yourself, you know, give me a break what’s going on. So they looked under Florida law and were able to initiate this procedure that would basically take away the liquor license for that,” he said, explaining that they continued to gather evidence.

While there may be more instances of this obscene behavior, DeSantis assured that state agencies will respond, because his administration takes the “well-being of children very seriously.”

“We want to make sure we want to make sure that we have a state and we have communities where kids can be kids,” he said, pointing to his administration’s battles against woke Disney as a prime example.

“I’m sensitive to this, I’ve got a five, a four, and a two year old, my wife and I back home, and we get our money’s worth out of that. Being a parent is the most important thing we do. It’s also very challenging enough as it is,” he explained:

And so I think parents, particularly this time in society’s history, should be able to have their kids go to kindergarten, watch cartoons, just be kids, without having some agenda shoved down their throats all the time. And that’s what we’re fighting for. That’s what we’re fighting for. And that’s why we, you know, those agencies are moving forward with that.

“People have different views about what they want to do as adults. But it used to be, the kids are off limits, no one wanted to bring the kids into any of this stuff. And we’ve got to get back to that. And I can tell you in Florida, we are going to make sure that that happens,” he vowed.

“Speaking on behalf of A LOT of moms across the state, we do not want our children exposed to inappropriate sexualized content. Full stop,” first lady Casey DeSantis added:

PSYCHO: Wannabe Kavanaugh ‘Assassin’ Claimed He Was “Shooting For 3” SCOTUS Justices

FBI documents obtained by Fox News have revealed that the suspect arrested for allegedly planning to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh also intended to target two other conservative judges in an attempt to “stop roe v wade from being overturned.”

The documents show an online conversation that suspect Nicholas Roske had with others on Reddit in which he outlined his plan.

Roske, who was arrested in June close to Kavanaugh’s home in possession of a gun and knife, wrote “im gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned,” to which a respondent asked “what u tryna do?”

“Remove some people from the Supreme Court,” Roske replied.

The other person replied “two dead judges ain’t gonna do nothing. The whole government is f*cked There’s no fixing that You would die before you killed them all.”

The documents note that Roske responded “Yeah but I could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come, and I am shooting for 3.”

“All of the major decisions for the past 10 years have been along party lines so if there are more liberal than conservative judges, they will have the power,” Roske added.

The documents also note that Roske Googled several terms including “how to be stealthy,” “assassin skills,” and the “most effective place to stab someone.”

As we have highlighted, despite the disturbing arrest, Democrats have repeatedly refused to condemn protests, and even encouraged them, outside the homes of conservative Justices, or while they are with their families.

The disturbances have continued despite even neighbours speaking out claiming they are routinely being insulted and threatened with violence by pro-abortion activists.

A marshal for the Supreme Court has also asked state and local officials to take control and put a stop to illegal disruptions outside the homes of Justices, noting that “threatening activity, has only increased.”

Leftist group ShutDownDC also recently put out a call on Twitter offering $50 and $200 bounties for information relating to sightings of justices John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett.

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren refused to condemn the actions of the group when asked about the matter.

UNREAL: White House Redefines ‘Recession’ Days Before Release of Disastrous GDP Numbers

The Biden White House released a statement redefining what constitutes a recession ahead of an expected GDP report showing a continued decline in the economy for the second quarter.

A recession has generally been defined as a period of negative economic growth for two consecutive quarters.

“While some maintain that two consecutive quarters of falling real GDP constitute a recession, that is neither the official definition nor the way economists evaluate the state of the business cycle,” the White House Council of Economic Advisers wrote in a blog post last week.

“Instead, both official determinations of recessions and economists’ assessment of economic activity are based on a holistic look at the data—including the labor market, consumer and business spending, industrial production, and incomes,” the WH release claimed. “Based on these data, it is unlikely that the decline in GDP in the first quarter of this year—even if followed by another GDP decline in the second quarter—indicates a recession.”

Likewise, Joe Biden’s Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen tried getting ahead of the expected bleak economic numbers over the weekend.

“We’ve got a very strong labor market. This is not an economy that’s in recession,” Yellen said on NBC’s “Meet The Press.”

Yellen then insisted there’s “no sign” of a coming recession despite record-high inflation and ominous data from a number of economic indicators.

“You don’t see any of the signs. Now, a recession is a broad-based contraction that affects many sectors of the economy. We just don’t have that,” Yellen said.

Keep in mind, Yellen also wrongly predicted last year that inflation would be “transitory.”

One Twitter user pointedly noted that the Biden administration’s effort to change the definition of recession just before bleak GDP numbers are released is “Soviet-level propaganda.”

“The Biden Administration is redefining ‘recession’ in an effort to avoid political backlash. It’s not a recession if you change the definition of recession. Soviet-level propaganda from a soviet-level regime.”

The Commerce Department will release second-quarter GDP data on Thursday.

The Atlanta Federal Reserve has calculated a second quarter growth rate of negative 1.6%. The first quarter growth rate was also negative 1.6%.

Economist Peter Schiff said Friday that once two consecutive quarters of GDP growth are in negative territory, it will be much more difficult for the media and White House to spin a rosy outlook about the economy.

When we end up with an even weaker number for the second quarter, that really throws a bunch of cold water in the face of the idea that we have a strong economy. And given how weak the Q3 data already is… We don’t have a lot of July data yet, but it’s starting to come in and what we’ve seen is pretty ugly. And it makes a lot of sense that the third quarter would be even weaker than the first two because interest rates are going to be a lot higher in the third quarter than they were back then. Next week, the Fed is set to raise interest rates 75 basis points. We’re going to be up to 2.25 to 2.5%. If we were in recession when interest rates were 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, think about how much worse that recession is going to be when interest rates are higher.”

Given that now the White House and media are changing economic definitions to suit their political needs, it probably won’t be long until they start changing the definition of “inflation,” too.

LEAKED: FBI Sabotaged Hunter Biden Evidence To Derail Investigation, Whistleblower Claims

Several FBI whistleblowers say that the agency’s probe into Hunter Biden was internally sabotaged during the 2020 election in order to derail the investigation, after agents wrongfully deemed verified evidence as “disinformation” to ignore.

According to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), agents investigating Hunter “opened an assessment which was used by an FBI headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease,” adding that his office received “a significant number of protected communications from highly credible whistleblowers” regarding the investigation.

Grassley added that “verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation,” according to the Washington Examiner.

FBI supervisory intelligence agent Brian Auten opened in August 2020 the assessment that was later used by the agency, according to the disclosures. One of the whistleblowers claimed the FBI assistant special agent in charge of the Washington field office, Timothy Thibault, shut down a line of inquiry into Hunter Biden in October 2020 despite some of the details being known to be true at the time.

A whistleblower also said Thibault “ordered closed” an “avenue of additional derogatory Hunter Biden reporting,” according to Grassley, even though “all of the reporting was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants.” The senator said Thibault “ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required” and that FBI officials “subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future,” according the disclosures. 

The whistleblowers say investigators from FBI headquarters were “in communication with FBI agents responsible for the Hunter Biden information targeted by Mr. Auten’s assessment,” and that their findings on whether the claims were in fact disinformation were placed “in a restricted access sub-file” in September 2020, according to Grassley, who added that the disclosures “appear to indicate that there was a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.“

Grassley summarized the new allegations in a Monday letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

The Examiner notes that FBI agent Auten was involved in the Trump-Russia investigation, including interviewing Christopher Steele’s primary source, Igor Danchenko.

According to Grassley, the “volume and consistency” of the allegations regarding the handling of the Hunter Biden probe “substantiate their credibility.”

The assessment by Auten in August 2020 was opened the same month Grassley and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) received a briefing from the FBI “that purportedly related to our Biden investigation and a briefing for which the contents were later leaked in order to paint the investigation in a false light,” Grassley said. The senator said Senate Democrats asked for a briefing in July 2020 “from the very same FBI HQ team that discredited the derogatory Hunter Biden information.”

The FBI inquiry into Hunter Biden reportedly began as a tax investigation, then expanded into a scrutiny of potential money-laundering and foreign lobbying; the DOJ has declined to hand over investigative details. -Washington Examiner

Thibault, the FBI agent who allegedly quashed the Hunter probe, may have violated the Hatch act in 2020 after making posts on social media which were critical of then-president Donald Trump and former AG William Barr.

Also notable – Hunter had the numbers of several FBI agents in his iCloud contacts.

Joe Biden, top Democrats, and virtually the entire mainstream media dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation when bombshell allegations from the New York Post emerged weeks before the 2020 election. In March 2021, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report claiming that figures tied to Russian intelligence promoted “misleading or unsubstantiated allegations” about Joe Biden.

CAUGHT: Report Details AOC ‘Fake Handcuffs’ Incident Outside Supreme Court Was Set Up By Soros Group

Last week’s arrest of 17 members of Congress during an abortion rights demonstration outside the Supreme Court – which notably included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) pretending they were in handcuffs – was coordinated with a progressive dark-money group funded by billionaire George Soros.

As the Washington Examiner‘s Andrew Kerr reports, “Getting arrested was the whole point of the stunt, Ocasio-Cortez said in an Instagram post on Tuesday. She said organizers of the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) Action Fund asked her and her colleagues to “submit themselves for arrest in front of the Supreme Court.””

According to AOC, what they did was “very different than a ‘publicity stunt’” without elaborating.

Approximately 30 minutes before lawmakers arrived at the USSC, Omar spokesman Jeremy Slevin said the quiet part out loud – tweeting “Members of Congress, including [Omar] will be participating in a civil disobedience at the Supreme Court, potentially including arrests, shortly.”

Meanwhile, CPD Action co-executive director, Andrew Friedman, told the Washington Post in 2018 that they, and their sister organization, Center for Popular Democracy – which coordinated with the lawmakers, had received over $1 million per year from Soros Open Society Foundations.

CPD Action posted on Facebook Tuesday, saying that its leaders were among the 18 non-lawmakers who were arrested.

“Moments ago, leaders from CPD Action network organizations, members of Congress & more participated in a powerful civil disobedience demonstration & got arrested to protect our RIGHT to SAFE & LEGAL abortions,” reads the post. “This is a clear message to SCOTUS and lawmakers that #WeWontBackDown until ALL pregnancy-abled people are treated as full human beings with the autonomy to make decisions about OUR OWN bodies.”

CPD Action linked to a fundraising page in its Facebook post that urged activists to “continue acts of civil disobedience,” such as the one it coordinated with the 17 arrested members of Congress on Tuesday, to secure access to abortion across the country.

Ocasio-Cortez was widely mocked by conservative commentators for creating the impression that she was handcuffed by police during her arrest. The New York lawmaker was filmed crossing her hands behind her back while she was being escorted off the scene by police. She then pumped her fist toward a crowd of supporters while still detained by police.

Ocasio-Cortez insisted she wasn’t pretending to be in handcuffs during her arrest.

“No faking here,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet on Wednesday. “Putting your hands behind your back is a best practice while detained, handcuffed or not, to avoid escalating charges like resisting arrest. But given how you lied about a fellow rape survivor for ‘points,’ as you put it to me, I don’t expect much else from you.”

A Capitol Police spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that nobody arrested outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday was handcuffed.
