Establishment House Republicans signaled Thursday they oppose impeaching President Joe Biden after reclaiming the majority.

While conservative members of the House filed nine articles of impeachment against Biden since 2021, many establishment Republicans, now with more power in the majority, believe impeaching Biden is not a good idea.

“We shouldn’t even be talking about that, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) told Politico. Fitzpatrick recently won his election by about ten points over his Democrat challenger.

“There’s so many problems we’ve got to deal with on the policy front … I don’t like the fact that that’s even being discussed,” Fitzpatrick whined.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), who won his reelection by about three points, said impeaching Joe Biden, like Democrats impeached former President Donald Trump for a “perfect phone call,” is not appealing to independents.

“I want to warn our colleagues: There may be some activists in our party that want impeachment. But I can tell you that the swing voters and the independent voters don’t. …We change leadership by elections, impeachment is the outlier,” Bacon said

Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) echoed the establishment House members’ opposition. Cole won his district by about 30 points. “The failure to win the Senate hurts a lot, and I think, to be honest, the margin does make a difference. A lot of the people that put us in the majority are from relatively moderate seats. I would hate to put them in that position unless there was an overwhelming reason to” impeach, Cole said.

In the past two years, nine articles of impeachment of been filed against Biden. Reasons for impeachment range from selling oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to foreign nations, the open southern border, pandemic overreach, and the deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Rep. Jim Banks (R-ID), a conservative fighter in the House, stated in September that Republicans will investigate Biden, which will lead Republicans to an “appropriate conclusion” of whether to impeach Biden.

“When we get control, we need to launch investigations and let that lead us to the appropriate conclusion and repercussions,” Banks told Axios.

Likely House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy also told Axios before the midterm election he was only focused on winning back the House from Rep. Nancy Pelosi. “We just put out the Commitment to America, that’s what we’re focused on,” he said.

The White House counsel’s office spokesman, Ian Sams, has pushed back on the possibility of Republicans holding Biden accountable for his failures.

“Instead of working with President Biden to address issues important to the American people, like lower costs, congressional Republicans’ top priority is to go after President Biden with politically-motivated attacks chock full of long-debunked conspiracy theories,” he told Politico.

A group of congressional Republicans introduced a resolution on Thursday calling for an audit of US government funds appropriated for aid to Ukraine.

The initiative, spearheaded by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and backed by ten fellow legislators, covers all military, civilian, and financial support provided to Kiev by President Joe Biden, according to the Daily Caller.

“The American people, the taxpayers of this country, deserve to know where their money is going and how it’s being spent,” Greene told reporters, adding that the government should be held accountable when spending money overseas. “We must audit every American taxpayer dollar sent to Ukraine.” 

The US has been supplying Ukraine with heavy armaments, such as anti-tank weapons, missile defense systems, and drones after Russia launched its military operation in the neighboring state. Biden asked Congress to approve an additional $37.7 billion in security assistance to Kiev on Tuesday, which would bring the total funds appropriated to Ukraine in less than a year to $104 billion, according to Defense News.

Greene and her colleagues argued that the funding scheme is not transparent enough and that there are more pressing matters at home. “Our Border Patrol asked for $15.46 billion to secure the border of the United States. President Trump’s border wall would’ve only cost $22 billion,” the congresswoman said.

“With the money we’ve sent to Ukraine, we could’ve already secured our border but we’re not doing that.” She added that Congress would send “a very bad message to the American people” if the audit is denied.

Greene also posted a video on Twitter of two men in military uniform walking with crutches, writing: “It is heartbreaking to see these disabled Ukrainian soldiers here in the halls of Congress being used as pawns to pressure our Congress to give American’s hard earned tax dollars to [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky.”

Some Republicans were increasingly calling for more oversight during the midterm elections, which ended with the party winning a slim majority in the House of Representatives but failing to retake the Senate from the Democrats. Kevin McCarthy, the top Republican in the House, said last month that Kiev would no longer receive “blank checks” if the party secured control of the chamber.

The former speaker of the House, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, said that the US will continue to support Kiev. “We have never given a blank check to Ukraine,” she said during a visit to Croatia last month.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Wednesday called for all “11 million” or “however many” illegal aliens there are in the US to be given amnesty because the American population “is not reproducing on its own at the same level that it used to.”

“Now more than ever, we’re short of workers,” Schumer said. “We have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to.”

“The only way we’re going to have a good future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants, the Dreamers, and all of them, ’cause our ultimate goal is to help the Dreamers but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million or however many undocumented there are here, and we will be pursuing that in the next Senate, in the Senate, the comprehensive immigration reform,” he continued.

Last year, Schumer joined with the Anti-Defamation League in calling for Tucker Carlson to be deplatformed for spreading the “anti-Semitic” and “racist lie” of “replacement theory,”otherwise known as the Great Replacement. 

“Proponents of this white nationalist, far-right conspiracy theory believe that a complicit or cooperative class of elites are advancing a plot designed to undermine the political power and culture of white Americans,” Schumer wrote in a letter for Fox News CEO Rupert Murdoch. “For years, these types of beliefs have existed at the fringes of American life. However, this pernicious theory, which has no basis in fact, has been injected into the mainstream thanks in large part to a dangerous level of amplification by your network and its anchors.”

“I implore you to immediately cease all dissemination of false white nationalist, far-right conspiracy theories on your network,” Schumer said.

Just months later, and just days after the midterms, Schumer is now calling for mass amnesty for potentially tens of millions of illegal aliens because our population “is not reproducing.” 

“This is literally the Great Replacement, clearly outlined by Chuck Schumer,” Matt Walsh commented. 

“If Chuck Schumer is so concerned about the reproduction of Americans, then he should adamantly oppose abortion,” commented Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). “That’s 63 million Americans which is far greater than 11 million illegal aliens.”

Interestingly, though Schumer is one of the top proponents of abortion in America, he actually is strongly opposed to abortion in Israel. 

“Senator Chuck Schumer, a noted pro-choice champion who has used the issue of abortion to secure his New York Senate [seat], attended a 30th anniversary gala for Efrat [a staunch anti-abortion group in Israel],” Mondoweiss reported in 2013. “Schumer has been lauded by Planned Parenthood who called him a ‘hero,’ with ‘a 100% pro-choice, pro-family planning voting record,’ but in 2007 Schumer put his pro-choice position aside and joined his anti-abortion foes at the celebration.”

Efrat, which Schumer supports, says that “preventing abortions is the key to Israel’s survival as a Jewish state.” 

“Israel is currently fighting a demographic war for her survival,” Efrat says. “As we go to print Israel’s borders are in jeopardy. The Arab birthrate is about double the Jewish birthrate. General Uzi Dayan speaking as the Director for the Council of National security announced: ‘Demographic projections forecast an Arab majority in Israel by the year 2020 less than 15 years from now.’”

[Incidentally, Bill Maher raised this same issue with Benjamin Netanyahu last month and asked if Israel “would have to become an apartheid state” if Jews became a minority in Israel.]

When asked by Mondoweiss why Schumer supports abortion in America but opposes it in Israel, his office refused to comment.
